High current heating up for testing the thermal stability of MV HV cables in type test and prequalification test, also available for combining test of high current system and high voltage test system according to IEC 60840 and IEC 62067.

Heat cycle high current test systems are mainly designed for testing the thermal stability of MV HV cables, generator stators, switching cells, etc.

 

The test system induces a current in the test object causing it to heat up. Therefore, the test object is designed as a shorted circuit. The high current test system measures the temperature of the test object at various points, in addition to the current. As a special feature, the temperature that the test object should reach can be specified and the amount of the current can be automatically calculated.

 

Example these systems heat the conductors of cable samples by induced current method, using test loop as the secondary winding of high current transformer for inductive heating, heating current up to 10000A.

 

The test system can be adapted to the specific requirements of each situation based on the exact test specifications. For example, when performing a type test on medium and high voltage cables, it is necessary to subject the test object to both high current and high voltage according to IEC 60840, and IEC 62067, which is made possible by combining a high current system with a high voltage test system.
