Mobile or modular type impulse generators, facilitate onsite lightning impulse voltage testing on GIS after installation.

The test systems are designed to generate lightning impulse voltage (LI, 1.2/50μs), for onsite lightning impulse voltage testing on GIS after installation, there are mobile type and modular type available.

 

Mobile type systems are mounted on container with special design, can be lifted up automatically for testing by hydraulic cylinder, then put down to container for transportation after test, trailer solution is available too.

 

Modular type systems are 400kV or 600kV in one module, easy to be installed on field.

 

Test system mainly consists of impulse voltage generator, charging device, damped capacitive divider, automatic control and measure system, and other components.

 

The circuit of impulse generator is the Marx multiplier circuit. Impulse capacitors arranged in the stages of the generator are charged in parallel with DC voltage up to 100kV against earth potential and, in order to generate impulses, connected in series by spark gaps. For adjustment of front time and time to half value of the test impulse, the generator stages comprise front wave resistors and tail wave resistors. A short discharge loop guarantees low internal inductances and smooth voltage shape.
