For withstand voltage tests on long XLPE cables (big load capacitance) once laid on-site (after installation) according to IEC 60840 and IEC 62067. The test system can be designed to be mounted on trailer to facilitate transportation and test among different test sites.

Tank type series resonant systems with variable frequency are popular for on-site AC voltage test of long XLPE cables (electrical test after installation), equip with tank type HV reactor in fixed air gap (fixed inductance), reach resonance by varying frequency in power supply, and output pure sine wave AC voltage for testing, typical test frequency range is 20~300Hz.

 

Test systems and test object form a series resonant circuit that guarantees a pure sinusoidal waveform of the test voltage. In case of cable failure, only minimal damage may occur due to the limited amount of energy stored in the test circuit.

 

As part of a series resonant circuit, these systems provide undistorted AC high voltage. And because the systems are designed to have high quality factor (Q), low input power is required (1/Q) which results in lower installation and operating costs.

 

The test system can be designed to be mounted on trailer to facilitate transportation and test among different test sites, so as to be set up quickly on site without help of additional cranes or similar equipments.
